Marketing
Marketing is an important feature that goes along with branding and advertising, it focuses on getting customers interested in their goods or service. Within the marketing process they use techniques that look at sales, communication and business development, all of these techniques need to be used together to build a strong and reliable customer relationship.
Marketing is one of the main techniques to use to help you find out everything you'll need to know about your customers. Marketing looks at identifying your customer, how the satisfy their needs and wants and importantly how to keep hold of your customers business. Marketing helps a company to not just get focused in the production side of the company but to actually listen to the customers and find out their needs and wants; making sure that they make a product that the customers actually want.
Customer orientation is part of the marketing process; this hugely important to a business because it looks at how they can continue to produce goods that are wanted by the public. This is extremely important as a company's survival depends of customers buying their products over competitors; therefore the importance of talking to their customers is very high. In order to keep customer demand up there are 3 approaches businesses can use; looking into and identifying changes in the market, product innovation and customer driven approaches.
Many businesses chose the customer driven approaches as these look at what exactly their customers want out of a product. Customer driven approaches also involve testing out your products on your potential customers. This is a great thing to do as it means that you don't produce anything that isn't going to sell, this therefore preventing you from wasting any money in the areas of production, on a product that isn't going to make you any profit. It also saves a company spending money of useless research and development.
Marketing is split into 4 fields; product, place, price and promotion, all of these elements are extremely important. Product looks into what product the public want and need, also what it is they want that is different from what is already out there. Place looks at where the best place would be to sell your product, for example in towns, high streets or local villages. Price, this allows you to ask your potential customers how much they are actually willing to pay for your product, and is also where you can work out how much profit you can make. Finally Promotion, this focuses on your communication with your customers, getting an inside view on what customers think will be the best strategies to sell your product will give you an advantage of hopefully attracting some new costumers.
